We are passionate believers in the importance of developing human and institutional capacity in developing countries for effective management of natural resources. All of our work aims to leave a legacy of sustainability through teams of well-trained local conservation professionals.
Our Coastal Academy initiative provides local conservation practitioners with the opportunity to gain internationally-recognized vocational qualifications.
In Comoros, we worked with two University graduates, providing them with local and international training opportunities. Both are now pursuing postgraduate qualifications in France and intend to return to Comoros to follow a career in conservation.
We provide opportunities for local university students at all of our project sites globally to conduct research towards their degrees, using our data and supervision to produce outstanding theses and reports.
We regularly conduct field training in internationally-recognized methods (e.g. SocMon, ReefCheck, SeagrassWatch, PADI Diver Training) thereby building the practical skills of local conservation professionals.
