Community Centred Conservation (C3) was founded in the Republic of Palau on Earth day 2002 by three young marine scientists and teachers who recognized the lack of small-scale capacity building programmes for conservation in developing countries and saw the need for a grassroots organization that was able to implement effective work in close collaboration with local stakeholders. Since then, the organization seen substantial growth and has been registered as a non-profit comapany in England and Wales (2005), expanded to cover three global target regions and employs over 30 full-time staff, however, we have always remained true to our initial strategy and values and continue to work exclusively through our local partner organizations.
